Scheduled date(s):

From 10 January 2025 To 11 January 2025

Aims And Objectives

Upon completion of this module component, participants should be able to: - Knowledge of basic laser physics - How variations in the laser’s settings can be used to alter desired clinical outcomes. - Outline the recommended standard in laser safety - Explain the biologic laser tissue interaction - Understanding as a conservative interdisciplinary approach to the restoration of dentition in its natural form and function. - Understanding the bio-esthetics and what the perodontium expect from the restoration. - Help dentist to practice a minimal invasive aesthetic periodontal techniques with the help of lasers and conventional methods. - Describe the concept of biologic width as it relates to restorative procedures and periodontal health. - Evaluate and diagnose cases in need of crown lengthening procedures in the esthetic zone and select appropriate surgical technique. - Evaluate and diagnose cases in need of crown lengthening procedures in the posterior zone and select appropriate surgical technique. - Apply the principles of surgical clinical crown lengthening in various cases. - Identify the various classes of gingival recession and discuss options for management. - Discuss the determinants of papillary fill of the interproximal embrasure and management option of “black triangles”. - Identify common restorative mistakes that cause unfavorable periodontal outcomes. The Hands-on Workshop Learning Objectives: - Demonstrating the treatment objective, such as ablation, coagulation, and excision. - Using lasers more efficiently in all of the possible indications to provide better dentistry. - Apply various suturing techniques - Perform mock functional or esthetic crown lengthening on models and/or animal jaws.

Content Outline

In the past ten years the indication for using lasers on tooth surfaces and mucosal tissues including gingiva, has been extended. New generations of Er, Diode, Co2 and many other lasers have been introduced to best dental clinics of world with very high success and patient acceptance rates. Gingival or oral surgeries techniques using these lasers have been scientifically evaluated in more depth. This 2-day course is specifically designed to give a general overview a maintaining the periodontal health and achieving the pink aesthetic through understanding the aesthetic parameters of gingival tissues. First day will concentrate on the current laser dentistry concepts and techniques. In this day we will discus the details of the laser applications of soft tissue lasers in the daily esthetic dental procedures. But before going through the applications the participants should understand the laser physics and the tissue interactions and the concept of absorption and penetration of laser light in the human tissues. Because it is a confusing decision to choose which laser for what procedure, so it is important to clear this confusion by simplifying the information about the wavelengths and the benefit of each one of them in the esthetic procedures and help the dentist to choose the right laser for the specific procedure. The second day will concentrate on the aesthetic parameters of gingival tissue. The participants will explore the two ways relations between restorative dentistry and periodontics. The bio-esthetic concept will be explained and the solution for gingival aesthetic defects will be suggested like aesthetic crown lengthening to resolve the gummy smile and altered passive eruption. The gingival recession will be discussed as aesthetic problem in anterior teeth and different root coverage techniques will be presented. Teaching methods will include: Lectures - interactive, evidence-based with clinical cases illustrated Videos of clinical procedures, Hands-on exercises (using sheep/lamb jaws), Step-by-step hands-on training, A compilation of current reading materials and hand-outs and literature.
