Aims And Objectives

1. Prof. Paul Brunton “Tooth Whitening: What’s the evidence?” Aims and objectives: Tooth whitening is increasingly popular with both patients and practitioners but little is known about how effective these treatments are. The evidence base for tooth whitening is currently not very strong. In this lecture. 2. Prof. Bekir Karabucak "Bio ceramic Root Filling Materials in Endodontics” Aims and objectives: Advancements in Endodontic instruments have evolved tremendously over the years changing root canal treatment modalities. The changes have been driven mostly to improve mechanical instrumentation and canal disinfection but have had less focus on dental materials. MTA became the material of choice based on biological principals however, its handling properties remain practical obstacles to its application. Recently, other calcium silicate based bioactive cements and sealers have been introduced changing the rational and methods of accepted endodontic techniques in root canal obturation, perforation repair or Endodontic microsurgery. Aim of the presentation is to explore the clinical applications, outcomes and biological responses of bioceramic sealer in endodontic practice. 3.Prof Nabil Bissada Topic : The Oral – Systemic Periodontal Practice Aims and objectives: Dentists are in a unique position to aid in the prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of oral conditions which have implications for overall health. This is not only important in the management of one’s personal health, but also for the economic health of the country. Therefore, the shift from traditional to oral systemic practice in dentistry is mandated.

Content Outline

1. Content outline: I will simplify the evidence and dispel many of the myths and misunderstandings that exist around tooth whitening by drawing on my own research in this area. In addition I will explore how tooth whitening is an integral part of restorative treatment planning. 2. Content outline: 1. Understand the biological objectives of root filling. 2. Understand the physical properties of bioceramic root filling materials. 3. Identify the studies evaluating the biological responses of bioceramic materials. 4. Discuss advantages and limitations of bioceramic materials. 5. Understand the root filling technique with bioceramic root filling materials. 3. Content outline : • How to deal with the challenges in transitioning the dental practice to a practical oral systemic health model. • Translation of the leading science to develop treatment protocols to help patients find health before they present with end-stage symptoms. • To acquire the skill set necessary to effective communication and collaboration with the other members of the medical team.
