Aims And Objectives
• To plan and demonstrate the use cricothyroidotomy in clinical practice with the use of ultrasound guided machine. • To demonstrate and interpret the use lumbar puncture in clinical practice with the use of ultrasound guided machine. • To plan and demonstrate the use central line in clinical practice with the use of ultrasound guided machine. • To plan and demonstrate the use chest tube in clinical practice with the use of ultrasound guided machine.
Content Outline
This is a course that uses simulation and team based learning approach in each of its four stations. Backward design of the Curriculum: 1) Metrics: a) Independently demonstrate cricothyrotomy, lumbar puncture, chest tube insertion, central line insertion on the simulator with the use of Ultrasound Guided Machine. 2) Targets: a) Show anatomical landmark and demonstrate sonographic landmarks of cricothyrotomy, lumbar puncture, chest tube insertion, central line insertion with the use of Ultrasound Guided Machine. b) Independently demonstrate procedure with minimal or no prompting c) >4 out of 5 MCQ correct. If less then remediation will be through verbal discussion of similar case 3) Learning Activity: a) Lecture on cricothyrotomy, lumbar puncture, chest tube insertion, central line insertion (case indications, contraindications, equipment, procedure, complications) b) Simulation with the use of Ultrasound Guided Machine. c) MCQ
