Aims And Objectives

Aims: Establish the core pharmacological knowledge and attitude to drug information that will ensure comprehensive and safe dental practice throughout a dentist career. Learning Objectives: • To understand the basic pharmacological principles such as drug actions, interactions, and adverse reactions • To be familiar with different medications used in dentistry, such as analgesics, antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals, and antiseptics • To be familiar with important drugs interactions and how they affect patient's management • To be familiar with the potential oral manifestation of medication side effects • To be competent in prescribing relevant medications


Content Outline

This course will provide the residents with the essential understanding of pharmacological principles and focuses on the application of these in dentistry. In addition, specific drug groups of concern to general and as well as Paediatric Dentists will be highlighted. The importance and technique of appropriate prescription writing will be thoroughly demonstrated.
