Aims And Objectives

1. Recognize those illnesses where immediate action is needed to reduce death and/or significant morbidity. 2. Identify the symptoms, signs and clinical presentations of the most common emergencies. 3. Identify when it is safe and appropriate to manage a patient in the clinic and when it is more appropriate to be referred to hospital for further assessment and management or admission. 4. Provide clear leadership and understand the team approach in caring of the acutely ill patients and the roles of each practice staff in managing patients and relatives. 5. Co‐ordinate care of emergency cases with secondary care specialists. 6. Master how to diagnose and manage common emergency cases in general practice. 7. Have the working knowledge of the following.
