Aims And Objectives

Introduction to the program: Modern pathology practice involves a growing list of disciplines and subspecialty areas of knowledge and skills that residents are expected to master. Residents are expected besides mastery of laboratory procedures and diagnostic skills, to acquire a vast amount of knowledge accessible to them mainly by targeted reading of up-to-date reviews in core pathology journals or participation in annual CMEs. This project aims at promoting dedicated reading and accessing knowledge acquisition from such reading via an MCQ-based quiz. Residents often Read for Exams on which their career depends. Independent reading enhances Adult Learning and improves and updates Read for Knowledge. Those who read on continuous basis, are destined to be good and safe pathologists/clinicians. It is not a secret to admit that the vast majority of residents read for exams. This online program hopes to enhance the latter aspect in residents. This is a tool to enforce life-long learning and continuous professional development (CPD). Program Objectives: • Encourage participants to read independently and extract practice-based information. • Enhance self-confidence in junior physicians (pathologists) regarding ability to read major reviews on their own. • Test learning acquisition based on adult-style reading. • Expose residents to major literature updates in key knowledge areas in pathology. • Train residents to take PG level internet-based interactive quizzes. • Encourage continuous medical and professional education through examinations. • Provide feedback to residents regarding areas of knowledge weakness to improve. • Provide evidence of CME activity to many practicing pathologists. • Encourage residents to be Independent and life-long life Learners.
