Aims And Objectives
Upon completion of this training, participants should be able to do the following: 1. Name five heavy metals that pose health hazards to children 2. State mechanisms for exposure of children to toxic metals including lead 3. Distinguish between essential and toxic levels of trace metals 4. Describe environmental and occupational settings in which children are exposed to toxic metals 5. Discuss the laboratory and imaging tests 6. Describe clinical diagnosis, the management and treatment of lead poisoning 7. Discuss methods for screening and prevention of exposure to toxic metals including lead and others that affect neurodevelopment in children
