Aims And Objectives

At the end of the course, the participants will be able to: • Demonstrate an understanding regarding growth and development of structures of the head and neck, and their relevance to the assessment and treatment of patients • Compare and analyze skeletal, soft tissue and local/dental factor aetiologias of Malocclusion • Evaluate the advantages/disadvantages, timing, components and design of removable. • Evaluate the advantages/disadvantages, timing, components and design of fixed appliances. • Evaluate the advantages/disadvantages, timing, components and design of functional appliances. • Ability of undertaking orthodontic treatment planning of different type of malocclusion. • Understand the information regarding orthodontic materials and bio-mechanics. • Understand the information regarding orthodontic diagnosis. • Critically evaluate treatment planning considerations for a variety of different • patients and their concerns • Will be able to place brackets on teeth • Will be able to place bonded retainer. • Will be able to change numerous types of wires. • Understand the basic principles of clear aligners. The Hands-on Workshop Learning Objectives: • Understand the basic principles of brackets positioning. • Placing bonded retainer. • Change numerous types of wires.

Content Outline

This two-day course aim is to educate the doctor on how to integrate orthodontics in their daily diagnosis of orthodontic problems in general practice. The scope of treatment and appliances that could be part of general practice will be included; the basic principles of fixed appliance and clear aligner will be explained. Practical sessions include orthodontic bracket positioning and experience changing numerous types of arch wires and placement of bonded retainers
