Aims And Objectives

This course is specifically designed to educate and train residents from R2-R5 in the use of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology. PCR has revolutionized the practice of science. This course is structured to expose the residents to the advantages of using conventional and real-time PCR technology and chemistries whilst empowering the residents with hands-on experience of conventional and real-time PCR applications. Validation of gel electrophoresis and real-time PCR assays and specific quality assurance factors will be highlighted.


Content Outline

This course will enable residents to understand the principles of designing an efficient real-time PCR assay, interpreting real-time PCR data and troubleshooting real-time PCR assays. The course will be covered over two weeks. Residents will be divided in to three groups for the practical sessions each group will attend two days of practical.

R2-R5 residents in Kuwaiti Board of Clinical Microbiology ( 15-20 Residents)
