Aims And Objectives

participants will be able to: - Know how to conform in restorative dentistry - Examine the occlusion and record findings - Find and record centric relation The Hands-on Workshop Learning Objectives: Upon completing this workshops candidate will learn: - The elements of the facebow - How to make a facebow transfer on a phantom head - The elements of Semi-adjustable articulator - Programming the articulator - How to mount the models on an articulator using the facebow transfer - How to make and adjust Stabilisation Splint - Know how to use Facebow and the principles of Semi-Adjustable Articulators - Know how to make and adjust a stabilisation splint - Formulate proper treatment plans for some advanced restorative cases


Content Outline

There is a general lack of knowledge and skills of the practice of occlusion among dental practitioners. To bridge this gap, at the end of this course, the participants should be competent at the following areas: - The conformative approach in restorative dentistry - The use of different types of articulating papers - Examining and recording centric relation - Examining dynamic occlusion - Recognizing and recording interferences - Managing bruxism - The use of facebows and semi-adjustable articulators - Principles of occlusal registration - Managing advanced restorative cases - Increasing OVD in tooth surface loss - Copying anterior guidance - Occlusion in implants –supported prosthesis - Splint therapy The subject of occlusion has traditionally been very difficult to learn, understand, and manage. As a result, an unwanted mystique has been built around it that has intimated a large part of the dental profession. It is now more important than ever that the dental practitioners familiarize themselves with a subject that so intimately affects their daily professional lives. This course is aiming to enable the participants to restore a solid foundation of knowledge of occlusion, by providing practical, learnable, usable information and techniques which have been demonstrated in a practical and easy to understand style. Scenario-based cases will be presented and discussed with regard to good occlusal practice in simple and advanced restorative dentistry.
