Aims And Objectives

Aim: address deficits in research and education, especially in family medicine. By promoting EBM principles, the workshop aims to fill research gaps, improve healthcare quality, enhance educational programs, and empower healthcare professionals for better patient outcomes. Objectives: 1. Explain the main concepts of EBM (ask, access, assess, apply) 2. Appraise and discuss Articles on Therapy 3. Appraise and discuss Articles on Diagnostic Tests 4. Appraise and discuss Overviews or Meta-Analysis 5. Appraise and discuss Articles on systematic review 6. Appraise and discuss Articles on Prognosis 7. Conduct Literature reviews

Introduction to EBM: why do i need to know this? (1hr) formulate PICO questions Access database for answers Understanding level of evidence Small group session (30 min) - search session Randomized control trials (45 min) Small group session (45 min) - RCT Systematic review (45min) Small group discussion (60 min) - SR Complete evaluation form (15 min) Critical appraisal of cross sectional: diagnostic study (45 min) Small group session (45 min) - CS Critical appraisal of cross sectional: prognosis cross sectional (45 min) Small group session (45 min) CS Critical appraisal of meta analysis (45min) Small group discussion (60 min)


Target Audience

Family physicians who deal directly with patients and wish to apply EBM in their practice to improve overall care. Health policy makers , General Practitioners and Physicians from all specialties who are interested IN EBM Medical students Each group will consist of 7 participants and one facilitator who will remain together throughout the course to facilitate interaction and communication as well as assessment of understanding by the assigned facilitator through daily feed back. We estimate the number of participants to be around 40 physicians
