Aims And Objectives

Aims: To understand the basic knowledge of general embryonic development To understand in-depth knowledge about the embryonic development of head and neck structures To describe normal and abnormal facial development including common malformations Recognise histological structures in the oral cavity and the surrounding structures Learning Objectives: Have a thorough understanding of the following: The general development of the face and nasal cavity The development of the palate The development of the tongue The development of the salivary gland The development of tooth structures and supporting tissues The development of facial malformation and dental anomalies Structure of enamel, dentine pulp, cementum, and bone Structure of periodontal ligament Formation stages and composition of tooth apparatus


Content Outline

This course is intended to provide the residents with fundamental knowledge of general embryonic development and in-depth knowledge about the growth and development of structures of the head and neck, and their relevance to the assessment and treatment of patients.
